Who is a good candidate for Invisalign aligners and palatal expanders?

Invisalign palatal expanders can be used for patients ages 6-11 who require their upper jaws to be expanded. It is important to remember that an orthodontist is the best person to determine if your child is an ideal candidate for Invisalign. For some patients, traditional metal braces and palatal expanders may still be the best treatment choice.

“While Invisalign is an excellent treatment option and may be effective for many patients, there are some instances where conventional braces are still the best option,” says Dr. Gire. “This is especially true if we worry a patient may not be compliant with Invisalign treatment.
